King James V

Seventh Stuart Monarch: 1528 - 1542

James IV  became King in 1488. He was popular. He restored unity in Scotland and established stronger friendships with Europe.  He also broke the truce with England and challenged the English throne which resulted in a seven year treaty and marriage to Henry VII’s daughter, Mary Tudor.  He later died in battle leaving one heir.
